We will write to your previous accountants and ask them to provide us with all your relevant tax and accounting records that they may hold.
All accountants are expected to provide the paperwork and records within a reasonable amount of time by their professional bodies.
How much will the previous accountant charge to hand this information over?
Most accountants would not charge for this, provided you do not have any outstanding balances.
What is the best time to change your accountant?
The easiest time is when a block of work has been completed, for instance VAT Return or a set of Accounts, as this avoids duplication of effort.
What if I have paid my accountant in advance?
You can change your accountant at any point in time. If you have paid in full then you can ask for a refund of the difference to cover the work they have completed but not the work they are yet to complete.
